Minister for Defence and Veteran Affairs, Pio Tikoduadua has attended the 2025 United Nations Peacekeeping Ministerial Meeting held in Berlin, Germany.
He was accompanied by the Commander Joint Task Force Command, Brigadier General Manoa Gadai and the Military and Police Advisor (MPA) at Fiji’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, Colonel Siliva Vananalagi.
The high-level meeting was officially opened by the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres.
Minister Tikoduadua and his delegation conducted several bilateral meetings with key UN and international defence stakeholders.
These included engagements with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support, Atul Khare, the UN Military Adviser, Lieutenant General Pierce, the ADF MPA in New York, Colonel Bridget, the Japanese Minister of Defence, the New Zealand Head of Delegation and a senior delegation from the USA Department of State.
Germany also handed over United Nations peacekeeping equipment dedicated to supporting Fiji’s female peacekeepers serving in various missions.
This gesture reflects the international community’s recognition of Fiji’s contribution to global peace and its commitment to empowering women in uniform.
