The Republic of Fiji Military Forces has issued a strong warning to anyone seeking to undermine national security, declaring that firm action will be taken as joint operations intensify across the country.

In a statement, Commander Ro Jone Kalouniwai confirmed it is working closely with the Fiji Police Force following what it describes as recent attempts to destabilise security at military installations.

The Commander stressed that the operations are grounded in the military’s constitutional role under the 2013 Constitution, aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of all Fijians while supporting civil authorities.

“The joint response reflects a deliberate and measured approach to recent unacceptable challenges to security, including threats to military infrastructure and isolated acts of violence,” he said.

However, the strongest message was directed at those considering unlawful actions against the state.

“We put on NOTICE that any attempt to destabilize national security or endanger the well-being of citizens will be met with firm, lawful, and proportionate action,” Commander Kalouniwai warned.

The RFMF said the operations are being carried out with professionalism and full respect for the rule of law, even as heightened security measures remain in place.

While a return to normalcy is the priority, authorities say these measures will continue for as long as necessary to restore a stable and secure environment.

The military also issued a caution to the public, reminding citizens that assisting individuals involved in criminal activity is a serious offence.

“Providing shelter, assistance, or support to individuals engaged in criminal activity directly undermines national security.”

Commander Kalouniwai reassured the public that the RFMF remains committed to its constitutional obligations and to protecting the people of Fiji, urging continued vigilance and cooperation with authorities.

Public cooperation, he said, is critical in maintaining national stability during this period of heightened security operations.
