Adita Milinia, a forward player for the Fiji Airways Fijians 7s side, is focused on improving her defence as she prepares for the upcoming HSBC Vancouver 7s.

Making her debut in the Perth 7s, the former Fijiana 15s and Fijian Drua women’s winger reflected on the great experience of playing in front of a large crowd.

The 21-year-old started her rugby journey with the Nadroga Rugby Union after primarily playing netball in school and she sees her talent for rugby as a gift from above.

“My experience in the Perth 7s was a great one, it was a really big crowd, I also would like to thank the girls for guiding me through,” said Milinia.

Transitioning from Fijiana 15s to sevens rugby has presented its challenges, but Milinia is grateful to the team for their guidance and support.

“I have learned from Perth and working it out in this upcoming Vancouver 7s sevens is my defence and to work as a team on the field.

“Making a transition from Fijiana 15s to sevens was not easy, didn’t think I would come this far, but I’d like to thank the Almighty for keeping me moving forward and not giving up on my dreams.”

Milinia’s message to young girls is one of perseverance and using the talents they have been given.

She is encouraging them to chase their dreams and never give up, drawing inspiration from her own journey in rugby.

With the support of her family, management, and the Fiji Rugby Union, Milinia is excited to represent her country once again in the Vancouver 7s.

She is grateful for the opportunities afforded to her and is determined to make the most of them on the field.

The Vancouver 7s tournament is scheduled for February 22-24.
