‘A BOXER’S life is more precious than any title’. This is according to ZEG Kings Boxing Promoter Nahroon Buksh, as local boxing sensation Mikaele Ravalaca has been forced to withdraw from the highly anticipated Super Featherweight title bout this weekend due to an injury sustained during a recent altercation.

Initially scheduled to face John Ingram for the NZPBF Oriental Pacific Super Feather Weight title, Ravalaca has been sidelined due to a serious head injury. “Ravalaca was supposed to fight in this program. Unfortunately he will not be able to fight. We are still waiting for his medical certificate, the reason being he got engaged in some kind of brawl, so he has a deep cut on his head,” said Buksh. “He (Ravalaca) has sent me the videos of the injury. To me money is not everything. A boxer’s life is very precious. We don’t want to repeat what happened last year.

“I told him not to fight. He was willing to fight but looking from a promoter’s view, I think that wound will not heal anytime soon, his life is more precious.” Stepping in to take Ravalaca’s
place is Ratu Rakuro Daunivavana, who will now face Dane Edge from New Zealand for the same title, presenting a new opportunity for both boxers to showcase their skills. Buksh adds the event will
feature a total of 10 professional fights and six exhibition matches, with the exhibition fights starting at 4.30pm followed by the main program at 6pm.

The weigh-in is scheduled for Friday at 12pm at the newly renovated podium at Ratu Sukuna Park in Suva. The main event will see Junior Binnu Singh squaring off against Runqi Zhou of Australia for the inaugural WBA Oceania Super Bantam Weight title, while James Singh will take on Semi Daloloma for the BCF Heavyweight title in the main supporting bout.

Meanwhile, a female bout featuring Sera Bolatini against Connie Chan of Australia for the WBA Oceania title will also be part of the evening’s lineup.

The program takes place this Saturday at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
