Morale is soaring at the Mahatma Gandhi camp according to senior girls’ blue ribbon winner Lidia Waqairapoa who proudly accepted her gold medal this morning.
After the first day of competition, the defending champions lead the girls’ division with an impressive haul of seven golds, three silvers, and one bronze.
The dedication and sacrifices made since the start of the academic year have been a key driving force for the Nabua-based school.
“Cutting down on food and all the tough training has prepared us for this competition and we are ready,” said Waqairapoa.
Despite their commanding performances on day one, the Seninawanawa team recognise they must maintain their intensity to hold onto their top spot after day two.
“Today we will focus on our 4×100 metres; this is where we will have our toughest competitions,” she added.
Meanwhile, Ratu Sukuna Memorial School sits in second place with two golds, one silver, and two bronzes, while CMF College is third with two golds, one silver, and two bronzes.
