Methodist Church President Reverend Dr Semisi Turagavou has reaffirmed their deep commitment to reconciliation, grounded on biblical values of repentance and restoration.

This follows its decision to work with the Fiji Truth and Reconciliation Commission, reinforcing the church’s pivotal role in reconciliation efforts across the country.

Rev Dr Turagavou said reconciliation begins with families.

“We believe reconciliation must begin within families and congregations before it can take shape on a national scale,” he said.

“Our doors are open to the FTRC and we are committed to walking alongside this process of national healing,” he said.

Reverend Turagavou said the church has started with its internal reconciliation program.

FTRC Community Outreach consultant Elizabeth Krishna described the meeting as both significant and important.

She described the church’s involvement as a unique role.

“It was encouraging to hear the strong support expressed by Reverend Dr Turagavou,” Ms Krishna said.

“It was especially inspiring to learn the Church’s reconciliation process began months ago, starting from the grassroots to high-level leadership.”
