A church minister from the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma has been reinstated after appealing his dismissal years after he and other ministers were dismissed for failing to comply with the “No jab, no job” policy.

According to the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma communications general secretary, Reverend Wilfred Regunamada, more than 20 church ministers were removed from their positions.

Three had appealed their dismissal at this year’s conference.

He said Reverend Jona Sevakasiga from Lau was reinstated because he had valid medical reasons and elaborated that Mr Sevakasiga served in the Solomon Islands with the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), therefore, he was exempted from being vaccinated.

Meanwhile, the other two ministers were asked to get vaccinated before they could resume their roles in the church.

He said issues affecting the wider church membership, such as climate change and poverty, was on the agenda and would be discussed later.

Mr Regunamada said during the first two days of discussions at the annual Methodist Church conference, issues affecting church ministers mainly were discussed.
