Fourteen ministers and two deaconesses will be ordained at the Centenary Church in Suva by the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma tonight.
Church general secretary Reverend Semisi Turagavou said the 14 ministers were on probation for three years and were serving in their respective ministerial postings after graduating from Davuilevu Theological College.
“Along with the two deaconesses, they will be ordained in front of family members and church members at 7.30pm,” Rev Turagavou said.
“They called before the ministerial meeting where they were required to answer some questions from circuit ministers and senior members of the Methodist clergy.
“So, their names were approved and the married ones were also reminded of the importance of having their wives by their side when they are posted to their respective ministerial postings.
Meanwhile, the church’s annual conference commenced on Monday and will end on Friday at Furnival Park in Toorak.
Rev Turagavou said they had made some slight changes in this year’s annual conference program by taking out the choir singing competition because they are recovering from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
