THE Nadi Magistrate’s Court has remanded six individuals charged with possession of 1.493 grams of methamphetamine.

They are Ratnesh Raj of Waqadra, Nadi, Komal Lata of Vomo St, Lautoka, Aditya Raj of Tomuka, Lautoka, Vishal Prasad of Namoli, Lautoka, Shameer Hussain Koya of Votualevu, Nadi and Aisea Tuidraki Turuva of Narewa, Nadi.

The group, who appeared before Magistrate Talei Kean, were apprehended during a police raid at Waqadra in Nadi last Sunday.

The first count alleges that on July 27, first accused Ratnesh Raj was found in possession of 1.493 grams of methamphetamine. On the second count, the other five are alleged to have engaged in dealing with Mr Raj for the use of an illicit drug, namely methamphetamine.

Prosecutor Bola Nadavo objected to bail for all six and requested they be remanded.

Mr Nadavo told the court the third accused Aditya Raj, fourth accused Vishal Prasad and sixth accused Aisea Tuidraki Turuva, had pending cases similar to their current case before the Nadi court.

He said there was a likelihood of them reoffending if they were released.

The matter has been adjourned to August 13 for a bail hearing.
