Primary school students are already selling and trying out meth.
Natabua High School principal Virendra Sharma highlighted this during the public consultation on the Review of the Education Act 1966 in Lautoka yesterday.
“That is the scenario,” Mr Sharma said.
“So, when we talk about teacher development, we must put more emphasis on the teacher’s ability to control students.
“Ability to control behaviour and I think all teachers should be equipped with basic counselling before they graduate to be in the classrooms because if you say to give one counsellor to Natabua High School, you have to look at the roll.
“So, if the teachers can have that basic counselling in place, the cases going up to the counsellor would be solved.”
