Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) John Rabuku has filed an application in the High Court in Lautoka to revoke the bail application of Justin Ho, a key individual charged in relation to the importation and possession of 4.15 tonnes of methamphetamine.
Mr Ho and eight other accused persons are alleged to have committed the offence between November 2024 and January 2025 at Legalega in Nadi.
Mr Ho was intercepted and arrested off the coast of Momi on Monday by the police while allegedly trying to flee to New Zealand.
The matter was called yesterday for a pretrial conference hearing.
The State’s application was granted and Mr Ho was taken to the Nadi Police Station to be remanded in custody.
“His bail has been revoked here because I made an application,” Mr Rabuku said outside court.
“One of his bail conditions here is that he cannot leave the Lautoka jurisdiction, so Sonaisali is out of Lautoka jurisdiction.
“He’s been taken to Nadi Police Station for absconding bail for trying to run away.
“Once it’s processed, he will be produced in the Nadi Magistrate’s Court, maybe by tomorrow (Wednesday), and then our position will be to ask for remand because his bail has been revoked here.”
Mr Rabuku said the case would be called on June 1 for a pretrial conference where the State and defence could streamline these issues.
“We’ll also be able to provide the list of witnesses in chronology to the defence as to who we are calling with respect to the trial.”
The trial is scheduled to take place from June 3 to 28.
