Mending Minds Foundation, a non-profit organisation with the aim to advocate and stand up for promoting authentic mental health services in Fiji, was launched in Lautoka on Friday.

Founder and executive director Prem Singh said one in every five individuals would experience diagnosable mental health condition in their lifetime.

“It is OK to accept the fact that you have mental health struggles,” she said.

Ms Singh said as a clinician, she always envisioned a society where mental health was recognised as an essential part of our general well-being in which at risk individuals, vulnerable groups and their families struggling with mental health challenges are acknowledged and prioritised.

“Embracing your mental health struggles and learning about it, you can empower yourself to heal and become a become your more authentic self.

“By reaching out, you can learn how to cope once again.” She said then only one can become healthier in all aspects of life.

“You can regain control and start doing the things you used to love.”
