Ba football co-captain Etonia Dogalau is optimistic about his team’s chances in the upcoming Pilayy Garment Champions Versus Champions (CVC) series against Lautoka.
The Men in Black are being managed by team management while waiting for the announcement of their head coach after the CVC as confirmed by president Azam Ali.
“Team manager Vincent Ali and his team with senior players are handling the training sessions and players have shown an interest in training after the festive season break and it’s looking well for us,” Ali said.
Dogalau expressed confident in their preparations stating: “We have been preparing well since this week, we respect Lautoka, but we are confident that it will be a good show.”
Despite their 2023 Inter-District Championship victory, the young Ba team is not relying solely on past successes.
Dogalau emphasized that the 2024 season will bring new challenges and game structures, and the team is focused on adapting and maintaining consistency.
“This is the new season and will bring in a lot of changes but we are working hard to maintain consistency this year,” Dogalau said. Dogalau and Misiwani Nairube will share the captaincy role for Ba in this year’s CVC.
Meanwhile, Ali revealed they recently advertised the Ba Football head coach position for the first time.
The club plans to shortlist applicants and decide on the successful candidate after the CVC series.
“We have advertised the Ba Football head coach position for the first time, we will shortlist applicants and will make the decision after CVC,” Ali said.
Additionally, it has been reported that Nadroga midfielder Kalaveti Sivoi and Tavua striker Ratu Dau are expected to join Ba when the transfer window closes at the end of this month.
