Dayals Sawmillers/iXCEL Ba football bowed out of the Extra Battle of the Giants with a lot of positives to build on.
After a disappointing start to the tournament with a 0-1 loss to hosts Extra Supermarket Labasa, the team gave their best against defending champion Paradise Seafood Supplies Lautoka, but they had to settle for a nil-all draw.
Desperate to make the semi-finals, Ba found their rhythm as they managed to execute their finishing touches, score goals and earn their first win of the tournament.
Although they fell short in Group A, coach Joshua Wilson said winning 5-0 against Nadroga in that last pool match was a good feeling.
“I think this win has been long awaited,” he said.
The win signified a new journey for the Men-in-Black as they look to rebuild better and live up to their status as ‘football giants’ in the local derby.
“From the first game we played against Labasa, against Lautoka, we haven’t had the results we wanted so this win really means a lot to us, to the boys and also, we are trying to build the team and start playing some good football and start winning some games.
“This is the first chance for us,” Wilson added.
Wilson said the team is slowly building and finding their confidence again which will be key to their games moving forward.
