IT is a dream he is certainly working towards.
The Vodafone Fiji under-20 captain Eroni Mawi wants to play in the Flying Fijians team in future.
Mawi played his last match for the Fiji U20 side in the 2016 Oceania Rugby U20 Trophy at the ANZ Stadium in Suva earlier this month.
He hands the baton to someone else as he played his last match for the Fiji U20 side in the 2016 Oceania Rugby U20 Trophy.
He helped Fiji to qualify for the Junior World Trophy in Uruguay next year but the inspirational captain will be over the age limit for the competition.
Mawi said he did not have any regrets as he had done his part.
“I thank the Almighty for giving me the strength to play rugby and helping us to win the championship,” he said.
“I started playing rugby when I was nine years old when I represented Lautoka in the under-9 and then right up to U13 and then to Lelean Memorial School,” he said.
He donned the national jumper for the Fiji U18 in 2014 which toured Australia and New Zealand.
“This was my last year with the U20. I will not be here next year. There will be someone out there who would take over to take us to Tier One,” he said.
“They say rugby won’t take you far, so I am balancing rugby with education. I wish all the boys the best for their future.”
Fiji defeated Tonga 18-13 in the Oceania U20 Championship in Suva to qualify for the Junior World Trophy.
