THE Golf Fiji Charity tournament at Denarau Golf Club yesterday successfully raised funds to support Golf Fiji’s preparation for upcoming regional and international competitions, with Team Maui Bay emerging as the men’s champions.
The Coral Coast-based team of Wayne Down, Noah Down, Jeral Sharma and Ajnil Singh claimed the title after finishing with an impressive score of 55.3.
Team Stiff Shaft settled for second place on 57.1, while Team PTRJ finished third.
Winning team member Wayne Down credited their victory to teamwork and hard work.
“We got lucky, made some big shots and we’re glad everything came together,” Down said.
The tournament was organised to raise funds for Golf Fiji’s national team preparations. Golf Fiji president Amitesh Chandra said the target was $20,000, and as of yesterday, $10,000 had already been raised.
