Matanavou’s contract ends

PERPIGNAN Rugby club has ended their agreement with Fijian flyer and former Flying Fijians winger Timoci Matanavou.

A French media RugbyRama stated that the club has decided to cut ties with Matanavou through a statement.

The club was still waiting for the arrival of Matanavou and have not heard from the player who has signed up with them after moving from Stade Toulousain.

Matanavou is said to have been notified of the breach of employment contract for serious misconduct.

Manager of the USAP club has had enough of the waiting game as the Nawairuku native from Ra was to have arrived in Perpignan on July 10.

“We can neither understand nor forgive, and in any case we will not forgive.”

Meanwhile, Matanavou was yesterday playing in the Rising Stars 7s tournament for Warriors Club at the Suva Grammar School grounds.

He could not be interviewed yesterday.

Matanavou’s cousin, former Flying Fijians winger Sireli Bobo had earlier also asked relatives on social media to inform Matanavou that the French media has released of the possibility of having Matanavou fined or his contract terminated should he arrive later than expected.

In his post on Facebook, Bobo said Matanavou’s actions had tarnished the name of Fijian rugby players.
