TEAM Fiji Paralympic Tae kwon do athlete Irene Mar’s dream run in the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris has come to an end.

This as the 19-year-old missed out on a bronze medal playoff in Paris yesterday after losing 12-6 to Kamilya Dosmalova from Kazakhstan in the women’s K44-57kg repechage at the Grand Palais.

Mar had a fantastic start to the Games, beating world number 7 Ukrainian athlete Yuliya Lypetska 25 – 3.

The Fijian 10th ranked progressed to the quarter-finals where she lost 29-5 to Gamze Gurdal from Turkey.

She was still in contention for a medal at the repechage but eventually went down to a more experienced athlete in Dosmalova.

Mar is one of three athletes to represent Fiji at the Paralympic Games in Paris.

She was also Team Fiji’s flagbearer at the event’s opening ceremony.

Next to compete are Naibili Vatunisolo and Seni Seau who are both taking part in women’s shotput.
