The 2022 champions of the Vanua State of Origin, Western Maroons, will host Papua New Guinea League top club, Hela Wigmen in the Melanesian Cup in Churchill Park, Lautoka.
Fiji National Rugby League acting CEO Don Natabe says the Western Maroon will take on the winners from the Digicel Cup competition in PNG.
“Preparation is well underway, and we’re looking forward to hosting the championship,” Natabe said.
He acknowledged clubs and representatives for their efforts in preparing players to showcase the quality of the game nationally.
“It’s really exciting and important for us to have a place where players can prepare and be part of the selected squad to represent Fiji in upcoming nationals and international events,” he said.
The match will be held on March 25. Kick-off is at 3pm at Churchill Park, Lautoka.
Ticket will be sold at $7 for adults and $3 for children under-12.
