Marist Brothers Primary School under-9 team two is looking at a possible quarter-final outing in the Suva Kaji competition.

This is after the team defeated Veiuto Primary School 7-0 in round nine of the tag rugby competition yesterday at St Marcellin Primary School grounds in Vatuwaqa, Suva.

They’ve played nine matches so far recording six wins, two draws, and a loss.

Head coach David Pieri said they were setting the foundation before the youngsters transition to full contact next season.

“We are developing them in terms of skill level of passing, running and coordination, preparing them for the upper grades.

“We have five teams, two are in the right age group for this grade while three are 8-year-olds just again developing them for next year. This will make the transition easy for us because when they come in they know the laws and everything,” Pieri said.

He said the main message to all their teams were to have fun, enjoy the games, and embody the Fijian flair.
