Marist U15 keep hopes alive with win

HOPES are still alive for Marist Brothers High School following their impressive 29-17 victory over Immaculate Conception College from Bua in the Vodafone Deans under-15 playoffs at Buckhurst ground two in Suva yesterday.

It was a crucial match for both teams, as they battled it out to secure a spot in the national quarter-finals next week.

The boys from Flagstaff were determined not to let this opportunity slip away, and they put in a stellar performance to come out on top against their opponents from Bua.

Team manager Rupeni Bulavou expressed his gratitude to the almighty for the victory, highlighting the importance of the match and the effort the boys put in to secure the win.

“It was a tough match I can say the team from Bua, also came prepared they came with a fighting spirit, it wasn’t the points we expected, but all in all the boys got the win.

Bulavou acknowledged the areas that still need improvement and emphasised that they will be working hard to address these ahead of the upcoming quarter-finals.

“We have a lot of things to work on especially our line out and scrum, we got one week to prepare the boys will be all in from Monday, going into the quarters, we know it won’t be easy, so we will be looking forward.”

Bulavou also extended his appreciation to the parents, school board, and old boys for their unwavering support of the team.

He emphasised that this win was a collective effort, and the team is now focused on the challenges that lie ahead in the next round of the competition.
