MARIST Brothers High School has become the first school in Fiji to formally celebrate academic achievement through a dedicated academic excellence induction ceremony.
The event, held at Lambert Hall in Suva on Monday, recognised 93 students for their outstanding academic results across various streams — including 19 high performers aligned with National Toppers Scholarship criteria.
School principal Asish Dayal said the ceremony was the result of a structured effort to monitor student progress throughout the year.
“We started tracking all our high achievers from all 17 tests from Term 1, and the recent mid-year exam.
“Here we are today to recognise and validate our 93 academia’s, 19 of whom are demonstrating higher results, in line with National Toppers Scholarship alignment.”
Mr Dayal said the initiative was rooted in research showing students learn best through peer teaching, backed by teacher and parental support.
“Our Marist Academic Excellence initiative and induction ceremony today is to provide our students with an additional layer of support.”
Education Minister Aseri Radrodro, who officiated as chief guest, congratulated the Marist family for the pioneering effort.
