When Acting Superintendent of Police Aseri Nakibo led 184 new police recruits in yesterday’s passing out parade, she knew she was blazing a new trail in the Fiji Police Force.

The 45-year-old marched into history as the first female parade commander and she said she was overjoyed to be given such an honour.

She said she was grateful the efforts of women in policing were recognised.

“For me, to be leading the training division as the commandant of the Fiji Police academy with five different schools and total manpower of approximately 72, is indeed a proud moment for me,” she said.

ASP Nakibo joined the Police Force in 1995.

“I still have nine years, six months to go and I hope and pray, anticipate to be one day retired from the Fiji Police Force as an Assistant Commissioner of Police.”
