PRICES of kerosene, motor spirit and diesel will decrease while gas prices increase from today.
Kerosene will sell at $1.69 per litre, motor spirit $2.44 per litre, premix $2.28 per litre and diesel $2.18 per litre on Viti Levu.
On Vanua Levu, kerosene will be sold at $1.76 per litre, motor spirit $2.49 per litre, premix $2.37 per litre and diesel $2.19 per litre.
Prices of LPG, however, have increased. On Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, a 4.5kg cylinder will cost $14.04 — an increase of 48 cents while a 12kg cylinder increases to $37.45 — a $1.28 increase.
Different price ranges have also been marked for Rotuma, Ovalau and the outer islands.
According to the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission, fuel price in Fiji was impacted by the movements in the Means of Platts Singapore (MOPS), international freight rates and foreign exchange rates.
The major reasons for the decrease noted in prices for motor spirit, premix, kerosene, and diesel in the Fijian market in March 2026 were due to changes in the international freight benchmarks for motor spirit, premix, kerosene and diesel.
“Crude oil prices were volatile in January 2026, broadly trending upward on heightened geopolitical risk premiums and supply disruptions,” a FCCC statement said.
“Early-month pressure from speculative selling and a build-up in US gasoline and distillate stocks gave way to a sharp rebound in the second week, driven by escalating tensions in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America, alongside Caspian supply outages, a weaker US dollar, and risk-on sentiment in equity markets. Gains were tempered by concerns over potential US tariffs on European goods and US-EU trade uncertainty.
“These global factors contributed to the changes in local refined fuel prices in Fiji effective 1 March 2026.”
