The Prince Charles Park in Nadi has a capacity of 20, 000 – and the Nadi Town Council says it expects that many people to turn up for the George “Fiji” Veikoso’s Homecoming Concert which will take place tonight and tomorrow night.
Nadi Town Council acting CEO Muni Gopal said the council was anticipating the town to be filled with a lot of people during the two days, therefore tight security will be in place as the council and concert organisers were collaborating to ensure safety at the venue.
“For this event, the ground will be used so it can go up to around 20,000 people,” Mr Gopal said.
“The venue, when used only for major tournaments, holds about 15,000.
“Nadi will be buzzing with people, so we are assisting the event organisers with more security guards and police.
“We’ve installed extra lights at places where it is dark, especially on streets and corners where it does not have lights.
“We’re managing the car parks, putting security guards outside and there’ll be additional securities within the crowd as well.
“We want people to feel safe.”
The homecoming concert will begin at 3pm this afternoon, with gates opening at 2.30pm.
George “Fiji” Veikoso is expected to perform alongside J Boog, Maoli, Josh Tatofi and Justin Wellington.
