The Ministry of Public Works, Meteorological Services and Transport (MPWMST) has announced the official establishment of the Engineers’ Registration Board (ERB) in accordance with the Engineers’ Registration Act 1976.
In a media statement, Paula Baleilevuka, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Public Works, Meteorological Services and Transport, said the Act requires all individuals wishing to practise as engineers in Fiji to be registered with the Engineers’ Registration Board.
“This important regulatory step strengthens professional standards, public safety, and accountability within the engineering profession in Fiji,” Baleilevuka said.
He said the newly constituted eight-member Engineers’ Registration Board held its first official meeting on Friday, December 5, 2025, during which members addressed key administrative and management matters to ensure the Board’s operations are properly established and effectively governed before the registration process formally begins.
Baleilevuka said public consultations would be carried out prior to the commencement of engineer registrations to ensure transparency, stakeholder engagement and public awareness of the registration requirements and processes.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening regulatory frameworks that safeguard infrastructure standards, public safety and professional excellence across Fiji.
