ANOTHER life was lost on our roads following the tragic death of a man in his 30s early yesterday morning.

The accident occurred in near the Nasinu road junction after 3am.

According to police, the victim was driving towards Suva when a second vehicle driven crashed into his car.

The driver of the second vehicle was also driven by a man in his 30s.

Director Traffic Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana said as investigations continue to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, drivers are again being urged to be alert and vigilant.

“Road safety stakeholders are continuously reminding and pleading with all road users on the need to be sage and practice safe road behaviour, however based on the number of traffic bookings recorded on a daily basis, it’s sad to say that many are taking the advisories lightly,” he said.

“Complacency leads to accidents and at times the unfortunate loss of lives.

“We urge all road users to adopt a change of mindset for your safety and to have an enjoyable festive season, everyone must take all road rules seriously.”

As police investigations continue the road death toll remains at 46 compared with 68 for the same period last year.
