A 45-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of a farmer at Batinivuriwai Settlement in Wainunu, Bua.
Police say the incident occurred on Boxing Day, when the victim was allegedly involved in a brawl near the settlement’s bus shelter.
He was later found lying by the roadside with a stab wound to his chest.
The victim was rushed to the Wainunu Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The accused has been charged with one count of murder and is expected to appear at the Savusavu Magistrates Court today.
