Man appears in court

A 40-YEAR-OLD Rakiraki man who allegedly attempted to steal the remains of slain student Simran Sumita Singh from a crematorium will appear in court on September 30.

Vijay Prasad appeared before the Tavua Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with one count of criminal trespass and one count of common nuisance.

It is alleged that he attempted to steal Simran’s remains last Sunday night after her family conducted final rites at the crematorium.

His case has been referred to the Rakiraki Magistrates Court.
