Malolo Rugby and Vinod Patel Ba will be chasing their first win in the 2025 Skipper Cup season when they clash this afternoon at Yawini Park in Mana Island.
Kick-off is at 3pm, with the under-20 curtain-raiser set for 1pm.
Both teams are coming off tough opening-round losses Malolo fell 16-39 to Naitasiri, while Ba were beaten 13-35 by a clinical Suva side last weekend.
With neither side having registered a point yet, today’s encounter is expected to be a fierce contest as both look to get their campaign back on track.
Ba Rugby Union secretary Gabby Kautoga said despite the loss to Suva, the team is showing encouraging signs.
“There was good support last Saturday against Suva.
“The boys are still learning and improving their weaknesses. We’ve worked on those areas this week and we’re looking forward to another strong support in our next game against Malolo,” Kautoga said.
Malolo, on the other hand, will be boosted by the home crowd as they return to Yawini Park.
Having regrouped after their opening defeat, the island-based side is expected to be a strong force on their home turf, where the backing of the Vanua always adds extra motivation.
With both teams hungry for a turnaround, fans can expect an entertaining and hard-fought battle as the Skipper Cup enters round two.
Also, in the West today Nadi will host Macuata at Prince Charles Park.
