Three times Ms Fiji champion Elizabeth Maki believes there is still a lot of potential in the sport in Fiji that has yet to be uncovered.

Maki, who returned to the national stage after four years, claimed her third title during the Bodybuilding and Fitness Fiji annual 2020 Mr Fiji and Ms Fiji National Championship during the weekend in Suva.

“The potential is there for males and females in Fiji, however because it is a minority sport, there is not much exposure,” Maki said.

She comes from Waibalavu Village in Naitasiri.

She said more women’s involvement in the sport could be done.

“There is only very few females who are taking up the sport. I know there are many women out there who can do this.

“I know there maybe culture barriers, but I do encourage women to take up the sport because there is an opportunity for athletes in Fiji.”

On her comeback and a third title win, Maki said she was excited that the hard work had paid off and she looked forward to defending the title again next year.

‘Superman’ Inoke Ligairi returned to centre stage before walking away with the 2020 Mr Fiji title.
