I am confident The People’s Alliance party will form the next government.

This was the word from former Opposition Whip and Social Democratic Liberal Party member Lynda Tabuya.

She said this at a press conference in Suva yesterday where she announced she had given up her seat in Parliament and joined Sitiveni Rabuka’s The People’s Alliance party.

Ms Tabuya said she was asked by her voters to join another political party and decided upon Mr Rabuka’s to contest the next general election.

“I have been urged by voters and I have been urged by those on the ground to please find a better place to take their fight to,” Ms Tabuya said.

“And for me, I’ve been in a process and a journey of prayer and fasting along with my family and friends and those who have supported me, and that is how I’ve come to the decision that I’m letting you know today.”

Ms Tabuya claimed that, as of late, supporters from her constituencies – including hundreds of supporters in Fiji and abroad – had expressed disappointment and disillusionment with the current state of the SODELPA leadership.

“After listening carefully to them. I have taken the advice to join my leader, Sitiveni Rabuka, at The People’s Alliance party.

“I am thankful to Mr Rabuka for his faith in me to continue to allow me to serve with him.

“I look forward to using my platform to raise awareness on bread and butter issues such as the minimum wage, job creation, and economic recovery through an agricultural revolution to make Fiji great again.” |
