The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has issued a serious warning to the public about a scam text message circulating under the guise of a Traffic Infringement Notice (TIN).
The message includes a fake notice number and a suspicious link, urging recipients to pay $100 within 48 hours.
“LTA does not send TINs via unofficial links or demand immediate payments through text messages. This is a scam, and we urge the public to stay alert,” said LTA in a social media post.
Members of the public are advised not to click, reply or engage with the message or any link it contains.
“If you receive such a message, do not respond. Verify any traffic infringement directly through our official channels.”
The Authority is referring the matter to the Fiji Police Cyber Crime Unit for investigation.
“We are treating this with urgency. The safety and trust of our customers is our top priority.”
LTA is calling on Fijians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious communication.
