MOTORCYCLES without approved rear number plates will be impounded and owners issued with a traffic infringement notice.

Land Transport Authority CEO Samuel Simpson said the authority had noticed motorcycles with non-approved rear number plates.

“These vehicles may not operate on Fijian roads. It is mandatory for all motorcycles to go through the LTA authentication process, which includes the fixing of the approved number plate by the LTA before operating on any Fiji road,” Mr Simpson said.

“This is for the legal and safety reasons of motorcyclists,” he said.

Mr Simpson warned anyone caught driving a motorcycle without an approved number plate would be issued with a TIN notice of $100.
