THERE is no rush in recruiting a new chief executive officer to lead the Land Transport Authority, says its board chairperson Vijay Maharaj.
He said they would look at recruiting someone from early this year to allow time for the authority to get a person “qualified” enough for the job.
The authority lost its former CEO Carmine Piantedosi in early November last year after he resigned, citing personal and family reasons.
“At this stage, we are not in a rush to make any appointment because we want a person with the right calibre and who can do the job.
“We’re trying to look for that kind of person.”
Meanwhile, Mr Maharaj also confirmed the authority noted a decrease in complaints against LTA officers last year compared with previous years.
He said this was still an area they would try to address this new year.
“The number of complaints has really gone down. This goes to show that we have been taking action against our employees who are neglecting their duties,” he said.
