LTA clarifies CEO post

A NEW chief executive officer of the Land Transport Authority will be appointed early this year and not next year.

This was clarified by LTA board chairman Vijay Maharaj.

“Yes, I have received some calls. Selection is already in the process and sometimes early this year we will have somebody in place. I can’t give you the definite date, but it certainly will not be in 2019,” Mr Maharaj said.

“We are going through the recruitment agency to identify the right person. That process is still going on.”

He had earlier told this newspaper that the authority was looking for someone with the right calibre and who could do the job.

The authority lost its former CEO Carmine Piantedosi in early November last year after he resigned, citing personal and family reasons.
