THE Land Transport Authority will be working with the Fiji Roads Authority to help identify traffic black spot areas where congestion is occurring on a regular basis.

This was revealed by the authority’s newly appointed chief executive officer Samuel Charles Simpson after the announcement of his appointment on Friday.

Mr Simpson said he was on the go and was also ready to seek alternatives ways to help curb the road congestion experienced on the roads within the Suva/Nausori corridor.

He said there was something needed to be done to tackle this ongoing issue.

“We will work with our colleagues there to see, if perhaps, we can get some sort of signal phasing adjustment and or changes in the road infrastructure to improve traffic flows. I haven’t seen a lot around Suva but what I have seen in Suva is that there is something that we need to tackle with our colleagues in the FRA.”

Mr Simpson said one of the ways they could help improve safety on the roads was to ensure traffic flowed smoothly.

He said they would go into discussion with FRA and improve on this.
