LPG prices jump from midnight

Listen to this article:

Households and businesses will face higher cooking gas costs from midnight tonight following the approval of substantial increases in LPG prices effective June 1.

The latest price review shows sharp increases across all LPG products, with consumers paying significantly more for cylinder refills and bulk gas purchases.

The price of a 4.5kg gas cylinder will increase by $3.39, rising from $14.09 to $17.48.

A 12kg cylinder will record the largest increase, jumping by $9.02 from $37.58 to $46.60.

Bulk LPG will rise by 70 cents per kilogram, increasing from $2.90 to $3.60 per kilogram.

Motorists using autogas will also be affected, with the price climbing by 48 cents per litre from $1.99 to $2.47.

The increases come amid ongoing volatility in global energy markets and follow significant rises in fuel prices announced for June.

For many households, the higher LPG prices are expected to add further pressure to monthly living costs, particularly as families contend with rising transport and electricity expenses.

Businesses that rely heavily on LPG, including restaurants, bakeries and food vendors, are also likely to see operating costs increase.

The new LPG prices take effect from midnight tonight and will remain in force until the next review.
