Low risk of TD03F to develop into a cyclone

The Fiji Meteorological Service says Tropical Disturbance TD03F poses a low risk at this stage, with minimal likelihood of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours.

The system was analysed to be slow moving and remains poorly defined, based on satellite imagery and limited surface observations.

While conditions such as warm sea surface temperatures and favourable upper-level support are present, forecasters say wind shear remains low to moderate and development is expected to be slow.

The disturbance is forecast to track southeastward under the influence of a near-equatorial ridge.

Global models suggest some gradual intensification, but overall development potential remains low.

Weather officials will continue to monitor the system and provide updates as necessary.
