HALFBACK Joe Lovodua’s dream of playing for the Vodafone Fiji Bati has come true after he was selected to be part of the team to the 2017 Rugby League World Cup in Australia.
Lovodua,19, plays for St George Illawarra Dragons in the National Youth Competition in Australia.
“I could not believe it when my name was announced in the Fiji Bati squad for the Rugby League World Cup and all the hard work and sacrifice has paid off at the end,” he said.
“Playing in the Rugby League World Cup and be part of Fiji Bati had been one of my dreams and probably I would get to represent Fiji.”
Lovodua said he joined the sport for the love of the rugby league.
“My families are extremely proud of me and a lot of people came from both sides of my family to congratulate me and meeting those people whom I have not met before was very encouraging,” he said.
“It is good to see them and it means a lot to me.
“Papua New Guinea and Australia are two of the strongest teams and they are coming in with a lot of experience and I am looking forward to play them and we need to put everything into the match,” Lovodua said.
