FIJI Rugby Football Union is moving into a new phase of planning after holding its General Assembly at Tokatoka Island Resort in Nadi on Saturday.
Acting CEO Koli Sewabu said the day marked an important milestone for the new board as they reviewed 2025 and prepared clearer direction for the years ahead.
“Today (Saturday) is a fantastic day for Fiji Rugby, especially for us as a new board. This is our first year of running the governance and administration side of Fiji Rugby Football Union Limited and I’m grateful for the support and the encouragement, the assistance of all our member unions who were present.”
He said the assembly focused on reflecting on this year’s performance, acknowledging issues, and discussing future planning.
“So there’s a lot of things that we discussed but most importantly the General Assembly was around looking back at the year 2025, what has been achieved what were some of the issues that we all went through, especially around the domestic fund and then also an opportunity for us to look into the future, look at the proposed calendar of activity for 2026 and beyond.”
Sewabu said the proposed calendar is aligned with high-performance targets and could be confirmed for coming years.
“I think we can almost lock in that calendar for the next couple of years because it’s aligned from our high-performance initiatives and get their feedback on the proposed new strategic plan for Fiji Rugby.”
He said the union is now finalising key development areas including participation pathways, training, education, governance, administration and a separate women’s rugby strategy.
Despite reviewing issues from this year, Sewabu said the main focus is creating solutions for a stronger 2026.
