Lomaiviti Gau Green continued their dominance in the princess grade of the Suva Netball Association club league competition after defeating Tagimoucia Diamond 17-9 in the semi-finals at the National Netball Centre.
Since the introduction of the princess grade, Lomaiviti Gau Green has been the team to beat, winning the title every year.
The side has now booked its place in next week’s grand finale.
Club secretary Jofiliti Veikoso said the players showed great determination despite the wet conditions in Suva.
“The team came out really strong and I guess it was also because of the training that they have been doing,” Veikoso said.
He added that support from parents has been a big motivating factor.
“We are so happy with the results. It has been the hard work of the players, and to have the parents here is one of the biggest supports. I think it was one of the big pushes for the win as well,” he said.
Veikoso said the coaches reminded the players to adjust to the weather and play smart netball.
“Despite the weather, we told them to play according to the conditions, to play smart, play a slow game and that’s exactly what they displayed,” he said.
Veikoso praised the team’s discipline in adapting to the conditions.
“They still played with caution, taking those small little steps and being very aware of the weather,” Veikoso said.
The finals will be played this Saturday.
