TRAMONTO Restaurant and Bar is a popular hang-out spot, on Taveuni perched on a hilltop overlooking the clear blue ocean.

If you’re spending time in Matei then don’t miss one of Taveuni’s most popular restaurants, located on the Coast Rd, Matei, an awesome place to enjoy sundowners before indulging in their popular thin-crust pizzas.

Matei, is on the northern part of Taveuni and Tramonto is exactly what it is – an eatery and dining place where guests get to enjoy the sunset view in style on the garden island. Tramonto restaurant which means sunset has attracted scores of tourists as it also overlooks the ocean that faces Vanua Levu and Rabi.

Watching the sunset from Tramonto is one of the main reasons tourists and locals love the place to unwind and relax as it turns the evening surrounding into magical shades for perfect picture opportunities.

Guests who travel from around the world are attracted to this unique opportunity to capture the moment with their loved ones. When The Fiji Times team arrived at Tramonto, the lounge was filled with tourists who sat at tables watching the sunset behind Vanua Levu.

There was this feeling of peace!

Akanisi Bogiva, a senior staff at the restaurant said they had a wide range of guests who took time out to watch the sunset as it always brought out a feeling of natural bliss bordering on nostalgia.

“We have a good number of people that spend hours here to simply enjoy watching the sunset,” she said.

“Tourists that come to spend the day usually walk up the white sandy beaches to Tramonto to have a few drinks and dine while waiting for the sunset.

“Interestingly, some say they don’t see the sunset in their own home countries because of the cold climates on their side of the world. “

So visiting Tramonto is one thing they look forward to enjoy on Taveuni watching the sunset in the evenings here.”

The restaurant and bar is a family- owned business that has been in operation for more than 20 years and owned by Peter Madden and his family. It is so popular on the garden island of Fiji that if you ask anyone on Taveuni they know exactly where Tramonto is located.

Mr Madden’s daughter Beverly who looks after the restaurant ensures all visitors are treated with the best services while there for a meal, drink or snack.

Tramonto’s staff welcoming gesture and bright smiles certainly lures visitors from around the globe to enjoy fine dining at Tramonto. Ms Bogiva said even locals used their services for family dinners or to celebrate an occasion now and then.

“Sometimes we have fundraising activities when all our guests have finished their meals and drinks and have returned to their hotels,” she said. “Fundraising activities are mostly held for our students when they need to travel but our customers who come for dinner are first served before we do that.

“Some days, tourists go for a swim at the nearby beaches and take a walk to Tramonto for an afternoon drink or for a great dining experience.

Tramonto sits on a great location and tourists love coming here.”

Ms Bogiva said many tourists have revisited them over the years and love reminiscing on their experience. “We’ve made some great friends with them and whenever they visit Taveuni, they come back to Tramonto because they love watching the sunset and the people here, they have shared memories with,” she said.

“Sometimes, taxi drivers or those passing Tramonto stop to buy some cold drinks and just relax before continuing on their journey.

So it’s a good place to hang out and enjoy the sunset, or for dining regardless of whether you are a tourist or a local, simply passing by!”
