LAUCALA Island in Qamea, Taveuni continues to gain prominence among A List Hollywood celebrities as US media mogul Oprah Winfrey recently celebrated Christmas there last week.
On her Instagram account, Oprah’s close friend and well known US media personality Gayle King said she had never been to Fiji, but upon reaching Laucala she wished she could never leave.
Oprah is believed to have been joined by her long-time partner Stedman Graham, Selma actor David Olyelowo and the film’s director Ava DuVernay.
In her Instagram account, Gayle gives a documented account of her stay on the island with her 28-year-old daughter who is also part of the team, saying they were having an experience of a lifetime enjoying the scenery of the island and its lavish living experience.
On another posting, Gayle was seen enjoying a hike on the island with her best pal Oprah.
Meanwhile, Oprah’s visit to the island is her second with partner Mr Steadman as they also spent Christmas on the island in 2010.
Media reports revealed the couple had paid for the $26,000 a night villa during their previous stay and that this year the team had spent their lavish Christmas holiday in the Peninsula villa.
Oprah and her friends jetted into the private island following their tour of New Zealand and Australia.
The private island has also hosted Hollywood A-List celebrities such as Elle Macpherson and billionaire Jeffrey Soffer.
