LICI Fiji yesterday announced it will be undertaking several social and charitable work over the next two weeks as part of the 69th anniversary celebrations of the establishment of its parent company in India.
“These include donations in kind to several institutions and health centres,” it said in a statement.
On September 1, the insurance firm arranged a blood donation drive at its office at Butt Street, Suva in association with CWM Hospital and the Ministry of Health.
Members of the staff of LICI Fiji led by the general manager Pradeep Shenoy and its agents participated in the drive. During the blood drive, it was noted that the number of persons eligible to donate blood has declined after Covid. “Many persons who are keen to donate blood are unable to do so as they have low/high blood pressure or other health conditions.
“Donating blood is a noble act which should be appreciated and encouraged.”
On Tuesday September 2, Mr Shenoy and some staff members visited Father Law Home at Lami and donated adult diapers, groceries and bed sheets.
“Father Law Home has been taking care of several inmates who have nowhere else to go. It is providing this great service since 1957.
“Sister Rosa received the donations from LICI had profusely thanked team LICI for this gesture. She shared the daily routine of the residents, some of whom are incapable of taking care of themselves and need assistance at every step.
“Sister Rosa introduced the residents and the staff of Father Law Home to Team LICI.
“She said that occasionally students visit the residents and spend time with them.
“Donations of the type made by LICI are very important for them.”
Mr Shenoy was highly appreciative of the work being done at the institution for the past 68 years. He said that making donations is the relatively easy part.
“Taking care of the inmates on a fulltime basis is something which is truly great,” he said.
LICI was established in India on September 1, 1956.
