DRASA Avenue School swimmer Lexi Millar played her part in helping the school secure the Girls Division title at the National Age Group Swimming Championships, as the Western side successfully defended its crown on the final day of competition last Saturday.

Competing in the 100m freestyle, 200m backstroke and 100m butterfly, Millar delivered valuable performances throughout the championships, contributing crucial points towards Drasa Avenue School’s successful title defence.

Reflecting on her efforts, the young swimmer said she was pleased with how she performed in the pool.

“I feel really good because I did really well and I’m really happy about it,” she said.

Millar’s contribution formed part of a strong team effort that saw Drasa Avenue School once again emerge as the top girls’ team, taking the championship title back to the West for a second consecutive year.

The young swimmer said her success was the result of months of hard work and commitment in training.

“It was hard because I had to continue training and doing all the stuff that I normally wouldn’t want to do, but I still did it,” she said.

She also acknowledged the support she received from Drasa Avenue School throughout her preparation and competition.

Speaking before her final events of the championships, Millar remained focused on adding more medals and points to the team’s overall tally.

Asked whether she was aiming to bring home more gold medals for Drasa Avenue School, she replied confidently: “Yeah.”

With Drasa Avenue School ultimately retaining the Girls Division title, swimmers like Millar proved instrumental in the team’s success through their determination, consistency and willingness to rise to the occasion when needed.
