DEPUTY Speaker of Parliament Lenora Qereqeretabua says her son-in-law is entitled to the presumption of innocence, following a police search of her family home in Samabula last Thursday.

“Our family home in Samabula was searched by the police in connection with investigations into my son-in-law, Jonathan Hill,” she said in a statement.

“We co-operated with the police, who carried out their duties professionally.

“Nonetheless, this was a deeply unsettling experience for our family.

“Nothing was found at our home, and my understanding is that no one else in our household is a person of interest in this investigation.”

Ms Qereqeretabua thanked those who offered messages of support, but said her legal advice was not to comment further.

Mr Hill appeared in court yesterday, facing charges linked to the seizure of illegal drugs in Vatia, Tavua, last week.
