Sila Central sprinter Samisoni Leleca set a new Coca-Cola Triple N Zone record in the intermediate boys 200m finals at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva yesterday.

The Year 12 student ran a time of 23.09 seconds with the initial zone record set at 23.13s.

Leleca, who was the crowd favourite particularly among the Adi Cakobau School supporters, also won gold in the inter-boys 400m final.

He clocked a time of 53.18s.

As humble as they come, the Visama in Tailevu youngster does not see himself as a top contender in the Fiji Finals but just as a competitor.

“I’m running for my school and the victory is dedicated to the students, teachers and athletes of Sila Central College,” he said.

“I ran in the Cokes last year, so I know what to expect.”

Also sharing maternal links to Visama, Leleca was part of Sila’s 4x400m senior boys relay team.
