After a lapse of two years, Lelean Memorial School (LMS) students, old scholars and parents gathered yesterday to celebrate Lelean Day which will be celebrated over three days.
Old scholar and Minister for Infrastructure Jone Usamate said the event was an opportunity for friends of the school to contribute toward the school.
He said the school had been through tough times but education was a very critical part of our youths.
“Not only for your marks and all that but your holistic growth as well,” he said.
“So I think it’s great that we can bring friends of the school and other stakeholders in to help the school out.”
School principal Mohammed Feroz said the event took a while to organise but he was happy of the outcome.
“We moved it to Syria Park this year so there is access to the people who are coming from far out,” he said.
With the target set at $100,000, Mr Feroz is calling on all stakeholders to come and soli for a good purpose.
“So we are asking the people from Naitasiri, Rewa and Tailevu to come because the school is the heart of the three provinces.”
The three-day event will end tomorrow.
