MIKE Legge will steer the Fijian Drua Women into a new chapter following his appointment as head coach, announced yesterday by the club.
He takes over from Ifereimi Rawaqa following the 2025 season.
Fijian Drua CEO Jeff Miller said he was impressed with Legge’s work in a short period with the national side.
“I have been very impressed with what Mike has achieved in short period leading the Fijiana. I know he wants the Drua Women to play not only with passion for the country they represent, but also with true Fijian flair. As a club we are excited and grateful he and his coaching staff are now on board.”
Legge said he was honoured and excited to take on the role along with club’s reappointment of Kele Leawere as senior assistant coach and Tavaita Rokowati as assistant coach.
“I’m also grateful to get to work with the coaches. I’ve worked with coach Kele since I’ve started in Fiji Rugby back in 2019 and with Coach Tavaita.
“It’s important that I have a group around me that I trust and I know they have a passion for the women’s game. And I’m looking forward to bringing in coach Richie Walker for some technical support for the season.”
The team’s events and operations manager, Eleina McDonald, is now the team manager.
Legge brings a strong background in high-performance rugby and women’s program development.
He joined the Fiji Rugby Union setup in 2019 and has worked closely with both the Fijiana XV and Drua Women’s programs.
As an assistant coach, he played a key role in the Drua Women’s 2022 Super Rugby Women’s title-winning campaign.
He was also part of the Fijiana XV coaching staff during the Women’s Rugby World Cup cycle.
This year, he was interim head coach of the Vodafone Fijiana XV, leading the side through Test matches and the Oceania series while overseeing attack and overall tactics.
